As a continuation of the first post about our new wisdom card project here is Lucy’s take on her process for writing about the illustrations:

“Most of these cards have quite apparent “surface level” meanings. The conversations between Ava and I that took place around and inspired by the cards, uncovered deeper levels of meaning.

The words and images were flipped on their heads, turned inside out, and considered from different viewpoints. We meandered into memories, snatches of conversation, whatever emerged in the space between us and the cards.

As I revisited our conversations, I would listen for the golden threads. The phrases that flowed, presented themselves in bold, and resonated long after those around them had fallen silent. I wove a tapestry from these threads to represent the landscape of our conversation.

These word tapestries are offered alongside the cards for provocation, inspiration, and to present different angles from which to view them.

Our wish is that you will enjoy your own ramble around the landscape of meaning offered by these images and maxims — alone or with others.”

We’re looking forward to sharing our work with you over the coming months.
